Vince Cable was in strong form in first TV debate

Many of you will have seen or heard about the first TV debate between the Chancellor and Vince Cable and George Osborne.

If you have come to this web site afterwards you may well share our excitement at the contribution from Vince Cable, his obvious command of the facts and his lucid outlining of what must be done.

We have long known that the Lib Dem message as outlined tonight by Vince is well received by the public. Tonight we saw it for ourselves on live TV. Did we count four outbreaks of spontaneous applause for Vince , against nothing for the other two?. And remember - that was an entirely balanced studio audience, not chosen to favour one party or another.

Tonight has reinforced our commitment as Lib Dems. It's nights like tonight that remind us we are in the right party.
